Bio

Sophie is a freelance saxophonist based in London. She graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a BMus (Hons) in Saxophone Performance in 2019.

Sophie is a member of She's Got Brass and you will most often find her performing with them. She's Got Brass emerged in London as the city's inaugural 10-piece all-female brass band, breaking barriers and redefining musical norms. Their bold performances quickly garnered attention, blending genres and championing gender equality in music. With infectious energy and undeniable talent, She's Got Brass inspires audiences while empowering women in the vibrant landscape of London's music scene. Sophie primarily plays tenor saxophone in their lineup, but can also be occasionally spotted doubling other saxophones and flute. She's Got Brass specialise in performing imaginative, high energy music that isn't typically associated with a traditional brass band, with their repertoire including originals and covers, ranging in genre from pop and dance music, to jazz and RnB.

To kick off 2025, they performed at the Vitality Netball Nations Cup halftime shows in the Copper Box Arena. Most recently, they performed as part of the Late Night Jazz series at the Royal Albert Hall to a packed audience for International Women’s Day, and hosted their first original single release at the Fox and Firkin in February. At the end of February, they released their first EP, She's Got Brass & Friends. In 2024, they played at Glastonbury, Wilderness, Boomtown, and Shambala festivals as well as Wembley Stadium for the FA Cup Final, Silverstone as part of the Formula One Grand Prix and performed in collaboration with Latin Grammy Award winners Monsieur Periné at the Natural History Museum. They have also performed for fashion brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Sweaty Betty and Kate Spade. They are super excited to be back on the festival circuit this year, with confirmed shows at Glastonbury, Boomtown and more to be announced...

Sophie has also been involved in the comedy circuit, working with the comedy trio Sheeps. She provided saxophone recordings & horn arrangements for their album "A Very Sheeps Christmas" which hit the album charts in December 2024. Sophie also performed at their "A Very Sheeps Christmas" live shows at The Moth Club in Hackney in December 2024, and is excited to be joining them at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe, where they will be performing at the Pleasance Grand. Guests in the 2024 live shows included Charlotte Ritchie, Lolly Adefope, Jamie Demetriou, Emma Sidi, and John Tothill.

Sophie also takes on regular functions playing solo sets, alongside DJs, and playing with various bands, including 29 Fingers, Rhythm Riot, and Blue Lion Band.

Sophie has over a decade of professional performing and recording experience, in pop, jazz, jazz fusion, Berber music, Kurdish music, hip hop, classical, funk, afrobeat, musical theatre and many more musical styles.
